Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy.
As your body changes during pregnancy, you can experience uncomfortable backache and neck pain. Also, while your body prepares for labour, it secretes hormones that loosen ligaments, which can exaggerate spinal and pelvic discomfort.

Benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy:

  • Increase comfort during 3rd trimester and childbirth

  • Reduce duration of labour and the need for pain medications

  • Reduce back pain during pregnancy and the likelihood of back labour

  • Help nursing parents become more comfortable during breastfeeding

  • Reduce the likelihood of postpartum depression

Chiropractic Adjustment

A hands-on approach to healing your body, chiropractic adjustments are safe and effectively treat your joints, muscles and nervous system.  Adjustments can provide pain relief, increased mobility, and support optimum health and total body function.  Chiropractic adjustments are safe and effective for a variety of conditions and address the cause of your body’s dysfunction, not simply the symptoms.

Webster Technique

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic adjustment for the pregnant mother.  This technique is classically used during the 7th through 9th month of pregnancy.  The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nervous system and balances maternal pelvic muscles and ligaments, which in turn, reduces torsion in the uterus, a cause of intra-uterine constraint of the baby and allows for optimal fetal positioning in preparation for birth.  This technique reduces tension in the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis.  It uses a combination of gentle adjusting to balance the SI joints and gentle ligamentous trigger point work to allow for more room for the baby to move and better position itself.

Myofascial Release Technique: A soft tissue technique that involves applying sustained pressure to the connective tissue during motion to eliminate pain and physical restrictions and restore normal motion allowing you to resume a pain free lifestyle.

Activator: Activator adjusting is an alternative method to classic chiropractic adjusting.  It is a gentle, low-force treatment that is used on individual joints to restore motion and reduce pain.

Acupuncture: Acupuncture is helpful when used to treat a variety of conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, knee pain, tendonitis, arthritis, as well as other muscle and joint problems.

I always knew I wanted to be in health care, helping people, and when I discovered Chiropractic and  how it could be used to help the body heal from injury, function at a higher level and prevent future  ailments with a non-invasive, drug-free and hands-on approach,  I knew I had found the right  profession for me.  I first completed my Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology Degree at McMaster University in 2002 and then attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where I graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2006. Believing in the importance of ongoing education and wanting to be able to offer my patients the best care possible, I obtained my Certificate in Clinical Acupuncture from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2010 and have been trained in Active Release Technique.  I enjoy learning new ways of helping my patients and regularly participate in continuing education programs. I truly enjoy working with patients of all ages to achieve their health care goals.  Whether it be to resolve an injury, to improve movement or flexibility or simply feel one's best, Chiropractic may be able to help you and I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.

Dr. Andy Anderson, BSc(Hons), DC

My purpose on this earth is to: 1. be a mother, and 2. be a healer. As it turns out, I found my passion by combining the two. Born and raised in London, I completed my undergraduate in biology and Latin at Western University. I then moved to Toronto to complete my doctorate in chiropractic medicine at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Now back in London, I currently live with my husband, two puppers, and we are awaiting the arrival of our first child this fall! I became a chiropractic doctor in order to support the body's natural healing abilities with a drug-free, and holistic approach. I have extensive training in external pelvic floor therapy and abdominal rehabilitation. Furthermore, I am Webster certified, and trained in visceral manipulation, cranio-sacral therapy, Thompson technique, diversified, and Activator. My passion for women’s health and birth work was sparked years ago when I was present for the amazing birth of my niece. After that, I trained as a DONA Birth Doula and I have been supporting families throughout their pregnancy and birth ever since! My goal is to help close the gap on the motherhood standard of healthcare, and empower women to find the support they deserve. Mothers are the ultimate caretakers, and I’m here to take care of you!

Dr. Richelle Almeida-Knight, DC

I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career that would help others, but it wasn’t until I began my journey into chiropractic medicine that I understood what that pursuit would look like for me. After earning my Bachelor of Science, I went on to receive my Doctor of Chiropractic which then lead to an expansive internship at NY Chiropractic College. These experiences allowed me to uncover the ‘why’ behind my passions - helping families navigate beautiful changes in their lives. Practicing chiropractic has been such a rewarding feeling that sometimes words fail to describe.

I am so fulfilled not only by helping women and their babies thrive, but also through educating them on their bodies and how they can grow stronger connections to them. I also find it imperative that women have a reliable, safe option that they can depend on to receive the gentle and informed treatments that they deserve. I am so grateful for the opportunity to make positive contributions to people’s lives that will hopefully leave lasting impressions on their total health and well-being.

I will be working on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Central and Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Hyde Park. I am accepting new patients at this time and look forward to meeting you!
