Tori Charron, Speech-Language Pathologist Reg. CASLPO

Thank you for considering me to be a part of your speech, language, or feeding journey.

As a speech-language pathologist (SLP) registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario, I am able to assess and provide support, strategies, and education to families and individuals experiencing differences and/or difficulties in the areas of:

  • Speech (how sounds are pronounced, including voice quality);

  • Language (how words and non-verbal language are used and understood);

  • Swallowing (from liquids and food entering the mouth to passage into the esophagus).

As an individual, I am passionate about supporting gender equity for women and  individuals who are gender diverse (transgender, non-binary, gender-fluid, agender, or any other term that feels best for you). My practice is one that is rooted in intersectionality, trauma-informed care, and cultural-sensitivity. I aim to provide a safe(r) space in which clients and families can be wholly and authentically themselves.

My most recent roles as an SLP for the Sarnia-Lambton Preschool Speech and Language Program and a researcher at Western University have allowed me to develop my skills in supporting children birth - 6 years in a variety of speech and language areas.

My current areas of interest include:

  • Providing training and education to parents and caregivers of toddlers and preschoolers with initial speech/language concerns. As a Hanen certified SLP, I look forward to offering parent groups and one-on-one programs aimed towards empowering parents and caregivers of children with language delays (It Takes Two To Talk program), late talkers (Target word program), and children with social-communication differences and/or on the autism spectrum (More Than Words program).

  • Supporting autistic individuals and children with social-communication differences. I utilize a strengths-based and diversity-affirming model within my practice that validates that autistic individuals don’t need to change. My role is not to change the person, but to provide them with social and communication tools to support them in being the best version of themselves. This includes embracing personality, interests, and sensory differences. I have a strong passion for supporting teens and young adults as they navigate the social-communication world of friendships, relationships, and social connection.

  • Supporting parents of infants and children experiencing feeding and swallowing difficulties through assessment and modification and/or education.

  • Supporting children who can benefit from use of augmentative and alternative communication modalities (ie. pictures, buttons, iPads, gestures and sign, etc..).

  • Offering gender-affirming voice services for adolescents and adults looking to align their voice with their gender identity and expression.

As the parent, caregiver, or individual experiencing speech, language, or feeding differences, you are the expert on your experience; I am one team member that you may choose to allow to play a role in your journey. I look forward to having the chance to be a partner in this journey with you.
