We offer physiotherapy for children (newborns, toddlers, and children up to 18 years old). Physiotherapy assesses and treats a variety of conditions and diagnosis. Here’s a list of some of the more common reasons parents book an appointment with us. Please note, a referral is not necessary to book an initial visit. If you have any questions before booking, please email us by filling out the FORM below.

Newborns: Baby turning or twisting head in one direction (Torticollis and/or Plagiocephaly)

Toddlers: walking (tip toe walking, gross motor concern, poor coordination, balance, or strength

Children: Bedwetting, constipation, daytime incontinence, or developmental delay

The goal of paediatric physiotherapy is to facilitate participation, development and independence in life taking into consideration the unique, ever- changing needs of the growing baby, child, and adolescent.

Our physiotherapists are currently accepting new clients. They use a transdisciplinary approach to treatment with all children.  This means that all goals from all parts of the child’s life are incorporated into each session. They will work closely with other health care professionals on your team to implement all areas of your child’s development into each session.

Treatment is Individualized and Family-Centered

Treatment for children with neurological or developmental conditions is aimed at maximizing potential and facilitating development, participation and independence. This may be aimed at reaching specific milestones such as rolling, crawling and walking. Treatment is individualized; depending on the unique needs of each child and Family, and may vary from hands-on treatment to advice, education, exercise prescription and consultation. Management is family-centered, with the goal of supporting and empowering both the child and their families at home, school and in the community, and not just in the treatment room. Assessment and treatment with younger children is play-based in order to engage and motivate children and achieve results.

Heidi McClintock, Paediatric Physiotherapist

Of all the ways I could spend my days, this is it- Paediatric Physiotherapy! I am new to the Rebirth team after having enjoyed 20+ years of working in Orthopaedics and Paediatrics across Canada, Europe and the Pacific Northwest in the US.

I completed my Bachelor of Physical and Health Education degree from York University, Physiotherapy from McMaster University, and Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Western Ontario. I am privileged to have received my training and mentoring from some of our greatest educators, and generous clinicians and colleagues. However, I have learned more as a Paediatric Physio from motherhood, and from the children and families I have had the pleasure to work with, more than words can describe….and I am still learning.

I work closely with Paediatricians, families, teachers, and coaches to address issues of growth and development, injury prevention, and overall physical literacy. Physical literacy involves developing the fundamental movement skills that ALL children need to maximize their own greatest potential. Whether running, hopping, sitting, rolling, throwing, catching or climbing, I like to make Physio fun. I use a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach that includes cognitive, social, and emotional development and learning.

Relevant to Paediatric care, I have completed post-graduate courses in: Advances orthopaedic Manual Therapy, Neuro-Developmental Training, Infantile Torticollis and Plagiocephaly, Concussion management, Primitive reflex integration, Kinesio-taping, Bladder retraining and core stabilization, Acupuncture and dry needling, Gross motor development, and Functional Movement Systems, and Yoga for kids.

I am actively engaged as a sports in jury prevention researcher and speaker at national and international conferences on paediatric orthopaedic and sport injuries, concussions in sport, and play.
